Short description of applicant, organization. Youth build future limited is a non profit company registered under the company ordinance (cap. 212) as a company by guarantee not having share capital. It was established in 2000 in Mbeya region Tanzania. The major objective is to help the youth and disabled people to participate in development process and engage in economic activities so as to improve their incomes hence reduce poverty. The organization is a membership based having members from different social groups some of them being disabled people. The organization since 2000 has been involved in a number of activities involving youth in Mbeya region. Among other things the organization has been involved in facilitating youth in areas such as promoting them to participate in development process through project formulation and implementation, facilitation of information sharing between different development actors and to act as effective partner of the government in fighting HIV/AIDS pandemic especially to youth. 8. Involvement of co-operating partiers in the project. The planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the project will involved different development actors who in one way or another are crucial in the development process of disabled people. Different actors included the government through the district community development department, the people from the media, church organizations, and the disabled groups. The actors’ roles have been agreed and stipulated to each of them throughout the project cycle. For instance the government role is to provide technical staff for training; the church organizations will provide information and other resources concerning disabled while the disabled groups will be the implementers of the project however all actors will be involved in monitoring and evaluation of the project to ensure the anticipated impact is reached. 9. How are disabled women involved in decision making? The major beneficiaries of the project will be disabled women, who were involved in the planning process by using a participatory planning tool called O&OD (opportunities and obstacles for development). This target group will also be involved in the monitoring the implementation of the project through participatory impact monitoring. 10. Beneficiaries of the project The beneficiaries of this project are the disabled people especially those with physical inability, the community at large, women and youth. 11. Background of the project, problems we are addressing. Tanzania like other developing countries has been facing the stigmatization and unreliable system or unfavorable environment to disabled people in receiving information and voicing out their views. It is estimated that 3.7 Milion disabled people in Tanzania do not have access to information because they have been marginalized and stigmatized by their families and the community at large. This is due to the fact and data available that in 6 daily news papers circulating all over the country, 5 Tv stations, aired 24 hours and more than 35 Radio Fm and AM radio station, there is only one Radio station or no station which has provided at least 20% of its news or coverage on Disabilities issues. This means that the populations of disabilities which constitute 2 % of all Tanzanian have only 0.1 percent of news to be covered in Medias compared to the total number of them. General Information being the fore front and foremost importance and core area for human survival and development lack of access to information has been a major obstacle for disabled people to get known, listened and present their feelings leading to poor participation in development process hence remaining marginalized and poor. 12a.
