This will be the second time the Organizing Committee of the Excellence in Journalism Awards Tanzania (EJAT) is rewarding journalists who have performed outstandingly.
Giving the background of the awards, Mireny said  previously, several media associations separately organized media awards in their specific areas of interest such as sports, the environment, HIV/AIDS and governance issues.

, he said.
He named the   partners as the  Media Institute of Southern Africa –Tanzania Chapter (MISA), the Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA), HakiElimu, Tanzania Sports Writers Association (TASWA), Association of Journalists Against HIV/AIDS in Tanzania (AJAAT), Johns Hopkins University (JHU), Journalists Environmental Association of Tanzania (JET), the Media Owners Association of Tanzania (MOAT), the Tanzania Editors’ Forum (TEF) and the Tanzania Media Fund (TMF).
On the event’s judges, he said a panel of judges for Excellence in Journalism Awards Tanzania (EJAT) 2010 presided by distinguished media scholar and practitioner, Mr. Athony Ngaiza scrutinized the over 430 entries which vied for EJAT 2010..
