JOB VACANCIES

 

Dodoma Urban Water supply and Sewerage Authority (DUWASA) was established under section 3(I) of Cap. 272 of 1997 as repealed by section 60 of Water supply and Sanitation Act No. 12 of 2009. DUWASA is charged with the overall responsibility of operations and management of water supply and sanitation services in Dodoma urban within the Municipality.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, dynamic, experienced and performance driven Tanzanians male and female, to fill in the following excellent carrier opportunities:

1.0       RECEPTIONIST II
1.1 Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
·         Holder of Form IV with passes and fluent in Kiswahili and English with Certificate in related field from recognized Institution.
·         Should be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
·         Ability to deal effectively with telephone calls and good keyboard skills.
·         Ability to work with diversity and understanding the necessity for confidentiality.
·         Commitment to ongoing development.
·         Understanding of own behavior and how this impacts on colleagues, customers and visitors.

         1.2 Responsibilities:
·         Receiving of telephone and deliver to the appropriate officials.
·         Receive and attend visitors
·         Making official telephone.
·         Making accurate records of telephone.
·         Writing telephone messages received and communicating to the appropriate officials.
·         Reporting defects/faults of telephone.
·         Ensuring that visitor’s book is recorded properly.
·         Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the office Supervisor.

2.0 OFFICE ATTENDANT
            2.1 Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
·         Holder of Form IV with passes and fluent in Kiswahili and English.
·         Ability to work with diversity and understanding the necessity for confidentiality.
·         Commitment to ongoing development.
·         Understanding of own behavior and how this impacts on colleagues, customers and visitors.

          2.2 Responsibilities:
·         Cleaning of the offices.
·         Housekeeping of the office surroundings
·         Dusting  and cleaning of the office surroundings
·         Preparation of hot water  for tea/coffee for staff
·         Performing any other duties as may be assigned by office supervisor.

3.0    PUMP MECHANICS – II

    3.1   Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
·         Holder of a Form IV certificate with Trade Test Grade III in Plumbing/Pump Mechanics/Mechanical Engineering from recognized institution with at least one (1) years working experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical works.

3.2 Responsibilities:

·         Carrying out maintenance and repair of water pumps.
·         Keeping record of maintenance and repair of water pumps.
·         Plan and follow-up preventive maintenance of water pumps.
·         Carrying out regular inspection of water pumps and recommending on best operation practices of water pumps.
·         Servicing of operating and standby pumps according to the maintenance Schedule.
·         Performing any other duties as may be assigned by Maintenance and Logistic Engineer.

4.0   PUMP OPERATOR.
4.1 Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
·         Holder of a Form IV certificate with Trade Test Grade III in Pumps.

·         Plumbing/Pump Mechanics/Mechanical Engineering from  a recognized institution with at least one (1) year working experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical works.


           4.2 Responsibilities:
·         Carrying out maintenance and repair of the Authority water pumps. 
·         Keeping record of maintenance of water pumps.
·         Proper housekeeping of water pumps,
·         Performing any other duties as may be assigned by Mechanical Technician

5.0       MECHANICS ARTISAN (MZAKWE STATION)
5.1   Required Qualifications:
·         Holder of a Form IV certificate with Trade Test Grade III or above in Pumps.
·         Mechanics/Mechanical Engineering from recognized institution with at least one (1) year working experience in the operation and maintenance of surface and submersible pumps.

5.2       Responsibilities:
·         Carrying out maintenance and repair water pump.
·         Keeping record of maintenance and repair water pump.
·         Proper housekeeping of water pump.
·         Following up preventive of water pump.
·         Carrying out all repairs (including emergencies) of submersible and surface pumps as the breakdown occurs.
·         Performing any other duties as may be assigned by Maintenance and Logistic Engineer.

6.0       SUBMESIBLE PUMP OPERATOR (IYUMBU WATER SOURCE)
6.1       Required Qualifications:
·         Holder of a Form IV certificate with Trade Test Grade III or above in Plumbing/Pump.
·         Mechanics/Mechanical Engineering from recognized institution with at least one (1) year working experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical works.

6.2       Responsibilities:
·         Operating water pump by starting and stopping the water pump according to the established schedule.
·         Recording and reporting daily running hours of water pump.
·         Recording and reporting time of electric failure and power resume.
·         Recording the amount of water pumped from booster pump or borehole at an established time intervals.
·         Maintaining water – pump, panel houses, and booster station surroundings.
·         Recording pressure gauge performance at established time intervals.
·         Reporting any abnormalities of pumps functions.
·         Monitoring chlorination of raw water at the pumps at an established interval and reporting any changes to laboratory in-charge.
·         Performing any other duties as may be assigned by Water Production Technician.

7.0   TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE POSTS
Permanent and pensionable.

7.0    AGE LIMIT FOR THE APPLICANTS:
Applicants preferably are between 25 – 40 years of age.


8.0     REMUNARATIONS:
         The posts carry attractive remunerations package subject to work professional,   
          experience and qualifications.
